You want giant suns, then read on.
Goto DATA\SOLAR\stararch.ini
[star] nickname = med_orange_sun star_glow = orange2_starglow star_center = yellow_starcenter lens_flare = hex_red_lens_flare lens_glow = default_lens_glow spines = orange4_spines intensity_fade_in = 0 intensity_fade_out = 0 zone_occlusion_fade_in = 1.000000 zone_occlusion_fade_out = 1.000000 radius = 3000.000000
This is the setup for a standard medium orange sun. Now to make a HUGE one lol
[star] nickname = Big_med_orange_sun <----- Change the name to whatever u like star_glow = orange2_starglow star_center = yellow_starcenter lens_flare = hex_red_lens_flare lens_glow = default_lens_glow spines = orange4_spines intensity_fade_in = 0 intensity_fade_out = 0 zone_occlusion_fade_in = 1.000000 zone_occlusion_fade_out = 1.000000 radius = 30000.000000 <----- **IMPORTANT** change the number to the radius size of your choice
The other lines enable various effects the sun has which can all be altered This adjustment actually makes this sun 10x bigger than before. Remember to add it to your relevant system.ini file and voila, GIANT SUNS !!!!

After creating the GIANT SUNS, you might notice that the navmap in the game still shows your new giant sun at a really small size, that's because FL has only two sun sizes as standard. Here's the fix...
In the DATA\SOLAR\SUNS folder are two .sph files, sun_1000 and sun_2000.
These files show the suns on the navmap. Now if you've made a custom sun say 50000 in diameter, then open up UTF editor, click on the tree until you see RADIUS, then edit this as a float array, and change the diameter to 50000, then save. I named the file sun_50000.sph. Then in any system file in your UNIVERSE folder that has a sun of that size, then amend your sun entry to look like this,
[Object] nickname = AC01_Sun1 ids_name = 464007 pos = 61601, 30000, -61601 ambient_color = 226, 16, 0 archetype = sun_50000 <---------------- Change this to reflect the new sun sph file star = huge_red_sun <---------------- New sun defined in STARARCH atmosphere_range = 53000 burn_color = 255, 0, 0 ids_info = 464007
You also have to make a new entry in Solararch as well,
[Solar] nickname = sun_50000 ids_name = 60201 ids_info = 60202 type = SUN DA_archetype = solar\suns\sun_50000.sph mass = 1000000 solar_radius = 50000 shape_name = NNM_SM_SUN
