I'm having problems with the camera setting for my pet ship, its large size makes it so when in turret mode all you see is your targeting box and the skin of your ship.
If any other information is needed (shiparch.ini, samples of cmp, mat or sur files, etc.) let me know.

Hiya, welcome on board.
There are some settings to look at, first of all in shiparch lets look at the camera settings
camera_offset = 255, 1000 <---------------------- VERY IMPORTANT camera_angular_acceleration = 0.050000 camera_horizontal_turn_angle = 23 camera_vertical_turn_up_angle = 5 camera_vertical_turn_down_angle = 30 camera_turn_look_ahead_slerp_amount = 1.000000
The camera offset line is very important. The second number moves the camera away from the ship, the bigger the number, the further along the length of the ship it goes. Positive numbers are to the rear if i remember right, and negative numbers forward. The first number is a zoom factor i think.
Now onto the COCKPIT.INI
[Cockpit] mesh = cockpits\rheinland\models\rh_freighter_cockpit.cmp int_brightness = 0.500000 head_turn = 30, 10
[CockpitCamera]
[TurretCamera] tether = 0.000000, 15.000000, 180.000000 <---------------------- The main settings are here yaw_rotate_speed = 2.000000 pitch_rotate_speed = 1.000000 accel_speed = 3.000000
[RearViewCamera] <----------------------- This is optional but defines the rear view properly view_position = 0.000000, 15.000000, 50.000000
The tether line is really the only thing worth worrying about unless you want to alter the rear view setting too. Same deal with the numbers, middle number is a kinda zoom function, the last number is distance from the model, larger the number, further away the camera will be.
Hope this helps
