Here's a little project for those of you interested in making Phoenix look better. In the last update (1.06) i added in some new effects in certain systems. These looked nice but disappear after about 20k and it's really irritated me until now. Today i found out how to fix it and it's easy for you to do as well.
First deactivate the mod and restore backups in Mod Manager. Find where you have stored the mod, probably in Mod Manager.
\Freelancer Mod Manager\mods\Phoenix 1.06\DATA\UNIVERSE\SYSTEMS
In there you will find all the systems in the Phoenix mod. Open up KU01. In there is an ini file called KU01.ini. Open it up in notepad.
At the very top is this section,
[SystemInfo] name = Ku01 space_color = 0, 0, 0 local_faction = ku_p_grp space_farclip = 100000 <------ ADD THIS LINE ONLY[/b]
Do the same with KU02, RH04, and EW03 and add the space_farclip = 100000 to each of the extra systems i've just listed in the [SystemInfo] section only which is at the top of each file. Don't forget to save the modification.
Once you're done, activate Phoenix 1.06 and you will be able to see the new effects up to 100k away, exactly how i intended they should be.

thanks for the info. I'm looking to get into the game again, but time is a bit short this month. Maybe this sunday or monday I have some spare time to check it out.

Nice one Cad, look forward to seeing you. If you apply the above, makes things a lot more interesting when in those systems

I made the changes, but haven't really found the effects yet. been in new tokyo and shikoku (is it the purple/bluish haze you see around the sun when entering from new tokyo?)
Or are the effects more to be found on the borders of the system?

In New Tokyo it stops the rings from disappearing round the large gas giant. In Shikoku, it's the effect at Fuchu Prison which you can see from a huge distance. Same in Frankfurt, the Dresden jumphole effect pulses big time like a pulsar. In Omega 41, the neutron star effect is nearly always visible. If none of these are visible at up to 100k away then you messed something up.
