Hi Ken and welcome. Best to start from the beginning here. What operating system are you running? Are you trying to play OSP (Open Single Player)? Thinking about it you must be as the server is down lol

Ken, can you elaborate on what you've actually done please, the full story? Phoenix doesn't magically appear without you trying to load it it into FL at some point.
Have you tried a complete reinstall of FL ONLY? Did you clear out your savegame folder in my documents as suggested? Or better still just delete the whole Freelancer folder in MY DOCUMENTS? Forget the mod for now and concentrate on plain FL. You say the Phoenix logo appears, that tells me there is still some of that code in your copy of FL somewhere. Tell me exactly what you have done, don't give me snippets of info ;D

OK Here is the WHOLE story. I am not your average gamer. There are maybe ten games that I have played on and off again for the past 20 years. FL is one of them. I build and upgrade my own computers as money permits. Sometime I run into problems where I have no other choice but to wipe my hd and start over. Such was the case about 6 months ago at which point I decided to goto Win 7. (64 bit) because of my AMD 64 processor. B4 that I was playing FL regular(on windows XP) and came acrossed FLMM and your P1.05 mod. I liked it. I wasn't interested in all the other stuff avail. for FL. I believe it said that Phoenix was made by the Original designer from Digital Anvil.(Is that you? If so I am honored to be txting with you).So back to present time. I broke out my FL cd and installed the game.Everything is fine.Go thru the story, start playing the game, all good. Now I don't want to go thru the whole game again sooo LET'S GET TOO THE MODS!! ! I go on line and find FLMM. Now I admit that the site I went to might have been kind of out-dated. I can't remember what the name was. I dl'ed FLMM and found Phoenix 1.05.DL'ed that. Installed FLMM. Then I saw P1.07.HMMMM intersting Let's get that too! So I install p1.07 and the OSP into FLMM. At first it said that the mod did not install correctly,to reinstall. So, do that then it's in FLMM but the mod won't activate. I try launching without any mods activatied and the game starts BUT the 1.07 logo is under FL logo. OK whatever. start the game And it is in OSP. huh? OK whatever. I get off of Manhattan and got to Detroit Munnitions. When I go to dock the game crashes. WTF!? I try to restart from FLMM and it crashes as soon as I hit new game. So after trying various things with FLMM(I.E. tools ,clear saved games etc.) I then try to launch FL from my desktop w/o FLMM. The P 1.07 logo is still under the FL logo and it still crashes. So after an hour of nothing working. I completely uninstall FL and FLMM and reinstall FL without FLMM. The 1.07 logo is there again! WTF!? So OK I know a few tricks. Uninstall the game, goto regedit , delete any keys I find pertaining to Phoenix ,FLMM ,Gibbons,FL. Then I do a search on my Computer. No files relating to the game.OK right? WRONG! after Install logo is back! So then I find this site,Tried all of these tips Same thing, same problem.I even used that CCleaner. Did a complete uninstall, used CCleaner went to my documents, deleted files in my games,reinstall.... Logo STILL there! BUT!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!! I did that exe file MSCDX whatever thingy And started the game in admin mode from the start menu. Game is working!!! HOWEVER when I FIRST tried to star from desktop... LOGO was there game crashed from new game. After playing from start menu for awhile. NOW I can play from DESKTOP BUT the logo is still there!!!!! The game is working.?? I am at New London with Tobias in the story line. No crashes yet. but the dreaded !.07 is still there!?? ? Sorry 2B such a PITA. I have not installed FLMM as of yet. I hope this gives you some insight into my problem. Ireally appreciate the Time you have given me. THX!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ken.
I have a new Win7 64b box and this is how I get freelancer and mods to work.....
1) Get rid of freelancer....Completely! Uninstall, delete, then run a reg cleaner (I use Glary Utilities, it's free!)
2) Restart system and Install freelancer.
3) Install Freelancer Mod Manager 1.31 ONLY!
4) Turn on FLMM in Admin mode
5) Install Pheonix (or any other mod) into FLMM
6) Load Pheonix (or other mod) from within FLMM, then turn FLMM off
7) Start game using normal Freelancer icon on desktop.
8) Go kick arse!!
I've used this system on 3 different PC's with Vista, Win7 and XP......32 bit and 64 bit and it has never failed. Hope it works for you. If it doesn't, as Gibbon said earlier, it must be another issue.
Cheers, Max

@ Ken
Nowhere is it said that Phoenix was made by the original designer of FL, nowhere. Just want to put that comment to bed asap before it gets out of hand and confuses anyone else. For the record, i never worked on FL, wish i had tbh.
As to the problems you are experiencing, have you tried the suggestions by Max? Question about FLMM, when you deactivate any mod, be it it Phoenix or otherwise, do you restore backups using the tab in FLMM? Needs to be done everytime otherwise the mod code gets left in the Freelancer code.
If mod manager says it hasn't installed correctly then it's a faulty download so download again, then reinstall the mod. DO NOT USE the standard ZIP program that comes with Windoze, use WINZIP or WINRAR as the windoze version doesn't do script files very well.
If you are playing the OSP version and this is the ONLY version of singleplayer that you can play with Phoenix, install the main Phoenix 1.07 mod first, then install the Phoenix 1.07 OSP version. Activate the normal Phoenix 1.07 mod, then activate the OSP version, it says there's a conflict, but ignore it. Never launch the game from mod manager. Earlier versions of the OSP version never worked properly with Phoenix, the special Phoenix 1.07 OSP version is the only one that works with the Phoenix mod.
That should be it, at least on an XP system, for Vista and Win 7, follow Max's advice.

I never use a "clean" install of freelancer in between mod installs. Instead, I use a little program called Quickfix. Everytime I de-activate a mod in FLMM, I run quickfix and my original freelancer install is back to new!
Cheers, Max
