i probably am... I got the .tiff files to work by changing the tag to .3ds... turns out I was using the wrong plugin to import them into milkshape. So I imported them with the right plugin (just below the one I kept clicking by accident) and exported them with a cmp eport plugin. now I just have to go through the tiring process of creating .sur files and other such files needed to make it work... I'll search solcommand again to see if I was missing something before I get too busy banging my head over stupid code i haven't used in years... By the way, I'm not totaly clueless in this stuff, just a little obsolete in my coding knowledge. I use to make some pretty killer IRC chat scripts in my day and some nice mods for Command & Conquer... that was 20 years ago...

Here's something for you to beat your head over... I would like to incorporate in my mod a feature only found in multiplayer but I would like to get it to work with SP. I would like to give the player the ability to jump instantly to any given point in space without having to use a jumphole or gate. It needs to be done with the press of a button. Those of you who are fans of the Guide know about the improbability drive and this would be it. If it can't be done then I would understand but it would be totally awesome if it happens. Also, Gib, I found the correct files at SolCommand. I was just looking in the wrong year

Didn't Adoxa deal with this in his addon for SP? ALmost sure there's a hyperdrive or similar engine addon that you can use that does very close to what you want. Have a look at the features, these only work in SP btw. adoxa.110mb.com/freelancer/flhack.html

I don't think it does exactly what I need done... It says it only allows you to jump 25-50k at a time. I need to jump into an entirely different system. But, I love Jason's work, my mod is compatiple with his patch, so it's worth checking out.

ok, I downloaded FLHack and took a look at it and unfortionatly, it doesn't permenantly change the files so it does it all the time. I'll have to reverse engineer it to see what he did and see if I can hardcode the changes into my .exe... Time for me to dust off my C++ books... Also, I downloaded the FLcolors tool he had but it came with what I think is just source, however, it's not in any format I recognize. I have been looking for a utility like this everywhere because I've changed EVERY color i possibly could in the .ini files but would love to change the other ones too, but, I can't figure out how to compile it or run it...

OK... Apperently Jason doesn't check his emails... Atleast not mine... It's a shame... I would really like to get this to work. Especially the FLcolors thing...

Got FLColors working. Neat little thing allows you to change almost every color that you can't change in the .ini's. Pretty nifty thing. My mod's demo is almost complete. Just a few more infocard fixes to go. The very last thing that I can't figure out how to fix is Trents Log. I changed everything to say what I wanted to say, in this case it serves as the actual Guide, but it doesn't all fit. I've looked everywhere for a way to increase the size of the box or whatever and couldn't find one. I even tried making the newplayer.fl list all the log entries so the box scrolls down more, didn't change a thing. Before I lose all of my hair (I've lost alot since starting this project) it would be nice to find a way to fix this itsy bitsy problem. Who knows, maybe it will open the door for even better uses of the Log!

Good that you got that working BD, never bothered myself but that's just me. Trent's log is something for SP which i normally stay well clear of, never tried to modify that although the diary entries could no doubt be called as they must exist in the dll's somewhere. If your mod is a TC, then you won't be needing the SP entries anyway

yeah, the log entries are in a .dll, can't rember which one off the top of my head, but I've changed all of them. That's not the problem. The problem is when you go to read them and you scroll down the scroll bar stops before the end of all of my entries. I'm missing two and a half entries and if I scale them down then it really takes away from the content of my mod, seeing as how the Guide is as important to my mod as a towel is to a galactic hitchhiker. I'm currently searching thru all the .dll's and the .exe with a hex editor to see if I can find something, but so far no luck.
