Decided on a trip to Colonia, the new outpost near Galactic Centre, only 22000 LY away. Didn't realise it was so far away but I've left now so no turning back this time. Chose an Asp for the trip, got the non-engineered version that does 36LY so that's enough for me. A little about the loadout. No guns for starters and no cargo hold so I get maximum range when jumping to a system. This is obviously dependant on the nearest star system. I used up three slots for auto repair units which are very useful when you do silly stuff while out and about. I also decided not to take an SRV, this might change once I dock at Colonia as I do like driving about. Thankfully with being this far out and being able to dock, you can change your mind about things without having to fly all the way home first. Everything else is low grade as you really don't need the 'A' grade items except for the jump drive. DAY ONE Left Jameson Memorial and headed out. Managed 1000 LY on the first day. No issues so far, probably just as well really. Been finding systems only half explored so decided to finish the job properly in these systems. This trip is going to take a while...Commander Gibbon signing off.

DAY TWO I was doing a spot of fuel scooping and got too close to a sun. Dropped out of cruise as you do in these situations and nearly got roasted alive. Took some damage but otherwise ship is fine. Luckily I took some Auto Repair bots with me although not used them as the hull is still at 99%. Over 2000 LY from my home system of Shinrarta Dezhra, a couple of water worlds discovered so far, oddly two in the same system, otherwise just the usual celestial fare of ice, rocky planets and gas giants. Decided to park up next to a Class I gas giant for the night, no moons or belts of any kind round this planet. This will give me time to clean up the scorch marks from my earlier encounter with the local sun plus the cockpit stinks of burning insulation... On a side note, the plan is to do 1000 LY a day, at least this way I feel like i'm getting somewhere. This will take me roughly three weeks to reach Colonia hopefully so I will try to write daily logs of the trip and post anything interesting I find. Commander Gibbon signing off.

DAY THREE Ahead full throttle now, the routine of it is wearing on me already, only because I want to get there now, right this minute. Only thing stopping me is the distance which thankfully is now another 1000 LY closer. Didn't find anything of interest, at least not in the systems I stopped in and thankfully no dramas with the ship. The hull is still at 99% while the internals are holding up nicely. Parked up next to a rocky ice world, now I wish i'd brought the SRV, could have made a snowman. Commander Gibbon signing off.

DAY 4 Put the pedal down and I am now 4500 LY from my home system. This also means i'm closer to where I want to be, namely the Colonia system. While I was resting up, I tried to get on the Galactic Web and to my surprise I could get a signal. After reading up on where I was going, it became obvious why I had a signal. There were now places to stop on the way. On the wiki page I found, elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/ColoniaThere is some information there, plus the locations of the systems where you can stop along the way. Very helpful. It seems I sailed past the first one, but i'm currently parked up at the second stop off point, Amundsen Terminal. This allowed me to get some much needed repairs done, so i'm now ready for the next leg.

DAY FIVE Nearly 6000 LY's out now from my home base on the way to Colonia. Thought i'd make a quick detour to the Omega Nebula as it looks pretty cool on approach, no idea what's there, only one way to find out. Ship is holding together, carrying on to the Eagle Nebula for my next pit stop via the Omega Nebula. Dropped too close to a sun AGAIN, so hull down to 98%. Also i noticed my lovely paint job on the Asp is starting to wear. Seems like the paint has started to peel off on the edges. Need to have a word with the guys who sprayed her up i guess. Discovered a few more water worlds on my travels. I'm definitely feeling out there now, nearly every system i go into is undiscovered so this is good for my Explorer rank. Should hit 'Elite' after this trip... Commander Gibbon signing off

DAY 6 and 7 Two days worth of reports with not much going on apart from i seem to be finding a lot of water based worlds, and i do mean a lot. Into double figures now. Received a message over the Galactic Webmail Service that the not so mighty Commander Bladechaser seems to be in hot pursuit over some imaginary unpaid debt and is following me out to Colonia in the hope of collecting. Good luck with that. On my way out to the Sacaqawea Space Port for some minor repairs, still a way to go but doing my best to get there in one piece. Commander Gibbon signing off...

DAYS 8,9,10
Been running around trying to get to the fourth refuelling point called Sacaqawea Space Port. Been around 5000 LY from my last pit stop. Apart from the multitude of water worlds i've discovered i've started to notice an odd odour in the ship. The impending closeness of CMDR Bladechaser. He's getting annoyingly nearer. So as not to give my position away, i haven't been posting for a few days so as not to let him know where i am. Obviously he knows where i am going, but he'll really need to put the hammer down now if he wants to catch up with me. Only two more stops and i'm at Jaques Station.
On the sightseeing side of things, lots of systems with nothing in them, just a sun or two and i've also noticed there are now more systems packed together, the closer i get to Colonia. That's what happens as you get closer to the galactic core i guess.
Time to grab a few last minute things before i leave and head out into the black, more news when i get a chance to post.

DAY 11 Currently docked at Gagarin Gate for some repairs and refuelling. Keeping one step ahead of CMDR Bladechaser who is still following me like a bad smell. My ship looks like crap but the good news is i found an earthlike planet so might name it after myself and retire there when i've had enough. Not that far to go now before i hit the Colonia system but still plenty to do, especially if i want to keep ahead of my nemesis. Commander Gibbon signing off...

DAYS 12 & 13 Things are looking up. After having to wait for some repairs to my ship, parts weren't available or some silly excuse i was told, i headed off to the nearest bar at Gagarin Gate and ran into someone i'd thought i'd never see again. CMDR Bladechasers ex squeeze, Chesty Maguire. I must admit she wasn't looking her best, she was waiting tables at the 'Aliens Probe' bar, so kept ordering the drinks after her shift finished to see if she had any information i could use regarding the whereabouts of CMDR Bladechaser. It turns out she still received some communication from him and from his latest mail to her, it was now clear why he was catching up to me, he was boosting his jump range by scooping fuel from neutron stars! Why didn't i think of that? The big danger with super boosting your FSD drive was the damage it causes over time, could even strand you somewhere and out here, nobody will ever find you. With this new found knowledge i bid my farewells and made a hasty retreat back to my ship, armed with the knowledge i'd been looking for. I could now stay ahead of CMDR Bladechaser and hopefully keep him as far away as possible from me from now on. *** UPDATE *** Well with the constant super boosting of my engines, i've now made it to the last stop before Jaques Station, and i'm now docked at Polo Harbour. Thankfully no sign of pursuit, so time to map the last leg of my journey.... Commander Gibbon signing off...

DAY 14 In an epic thrust towards my goal of reaching Jaques Station, my new best friends are Neutron stars. The range they give you is epic, allowing 130, 140 LY jumps making the journey a lot easier. No sign of CMDR Bladechaser either with nobody mentioning here on the station that he's already here, so clearly got the jump on him which is a good thing. Sold all my cartographic data and made a tidy sum on that, so far so good. I need to figure out what my next move is going to be as there's not a lot out here in this part of space. 22000 LY is a long way out, furthest i've ever gone, maybe head towards Sagittarius 'A', the centre of our galaxy and see what all the fuss is about... To further my own curiosity and to keep one step ahead of you know who, i decided to travel to Sagittarius 'A', the super massive black hole at the centre of our Milky Way galaxy. Roughly 10000 LY from Colonia, so not exactly nearby. Well it took me a while but i made it, and here's the proof lol

How close did you dare to go? One wonders what would happen if you get sucked in Next challenge to see how far away from the galaxy centre you can go? Are there any limits to the size?

Didn't get too close, took the image from where i spawned tbh. No idea regarding limits, as far as i know this is the only galaxy we can wander around in. Bear in mind there's no way to refuel without stars so limited to the milky way whatever happens
