The latest Microsoft shock news, is that they have cancelled all work on the ever popular Flight Simulator series and fired all its staff from the Aces studio that was developing the next version.
Sources close to Microsoft are hinting at a future for the franchise in an MMO type format where pilots would pay for a selected part of the world to fly in via a subscription.
When Microsoft were approached by some of the big third party addon companies for the source code so they could develop it further, they were given the proverbial finger.
Sound familiar?

Their gaming side does for sure. It's clear that in their eyes, the PC is no longer a games platform but a "serious" computer and we should all do serious things on our machines. If you want to play games, then go and use an Xbox. I'm proud to say i don't own one and probably never will.
The thing i find scary with the closure of FS is that it's been going for 27 years and was highly profitable. Users of FS are not the standard MMO type of player so why are Microsoft even thinking along these lines? They clearly have their collective heads up their a***** with no idea about their target audience. They've looked at WOW and Eve and thought, we can do that. Only problem is, they've picked the wrong title to do it with.

I only own a PSP aside from my computer due to travel reasons. I agree with the sentiment that its a waste of money going with console vs a PC because of a lack of advanced customization whether it be modding or just setting up your key map.
