Welcome to the Galactica 2.0 mod. This is a TC (Total Conversion mod) featuring the Battlestar Galactica universe and the search for Earth. Primarily based on the re-imagined series, you will see all the ships from the tv show as you attempt to find Earth just after the Cylons invade the Colonial systems. This mod was originally made in 2008. After a request on the forum, i've made this updated version available with a few added tweaks. I've added widescreen support, zoomable turret view, a new interface, and updated the planet textures. Rest of the mod is the same. It's as stable as i can make it for the moment, no updates are planned, so the mod is how you find it <<<<<<<<<< BACKGROUND STORY >>>>>>>>>> As a lowly commercial pilot whose just received his licence, you start out on Caprica, the home to Colonial civilization. Unsure of which of the many Colonial shipping companies to work for, your mind is made up for you when the Cylons dramatically start their attacks on the Colonial homeworlds. Do you decide to trade, hoping to make your fortune while fighting off the Cylons at every turn, or do you join the fight with the Colonial Fleet against its most deadly of enemies and go in search of the missing 13th tribe from a planet known only in the sacred scrolls of Pythea as Earth? I am impatiently waiting! Thank you again for reviving this, I was just hoping to get a copy of the original version. But you are taking it a step further and tying up some loose ends, making it truly epic! Thanks so much again, if there's any way I can help or pay you back let me know.

You can download it and give me some feedback. Bear in mind the first 6 or 7 systems are designed so as to allow you to build up some cash and upgrade your ship before you go 'beyond the red line'. After that, there is no way back, all the systems are one way until the end. Then it will loop back to the beginning. There's a lot of stuff in this mod, so take your time, don't rush it or you will miss lots

No problem guys, bear in mind when it was written, so probably the odd bug or two lurking in there. It used to be stable in MP so bearing in mind it's based on that code, should be stable in OSP. There will be no server before anyone asks, this version is OSP only due to my gaming tastes moving on, namely Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen

Thank you so much! To be honest, that really says a lot about your character. I was never on these boards before and have never talked to any of you, I sign up for the forums just to contact Gibbon about Galactica 2.0 to see if I could get an old copy of it lurking around. I write in there that I heard it has OSP and ask for a copy, Gibbon not only goes out of his way to find it but proceeds to update it and implement the OSP... all that at the request of a guy he never talked to and has nothing to do with. That just shows me how awesome this community is and makes me want to support you guys in all of your projects, and if the devs are that cool I'm sure the fans are squared away too. Thanks again Gibbon, you really made my... well probably year haha!
And ya, Star Citizen looks sick. I should've put up the cash toward the development and got those slick ships and free repairs and such.

Thanks for your kind words. Regarding Galactica 2.0, not really sure why i tucked it away and forgot about it for so long, but after you requested it, seemd like a good idea to dust it off and update it a little, as it's the last mod of my modding collection not out in the public domain. It is now though lol. And yes, the folks on here are very nice indeed, wouldn't let them in otherwise.
As to Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous, i've supported both financially right from the start, can't wait to see them finished and up and running. Only good thing about getting in early is you do get a few extras that others don't.

It is truly a great mod! I'm still exploring the starting systems, getting ready to jump to the unknown in my mk7 =D So far since the release I have slept for no more than 3 hours and have been late for work twice haha.
As far as possible bugs:
It's fairly difficult to locate the larger planet's docking rings some times because you can't see them and you have to get so close to pick them up on dradis.
Some bases you have to figure out exactly where to dock and hit the command directly in front of it or your ship will go into a seemingly endless cycle of flying away and then slamming into the side of the base.
Those are minor and not by any means game breaking.
The models and systems are beautiful. I never liked the scale in Freelancer, it never made sense that my single occupant fighter was a large percentage of the size of a planet. The planets in Galactica 2.0 are perfect, and they actually spin making them feel like actual planets. The size of the battlestars and basestars is also just right, too many mods have the capitols and battleships scaled way down.
The systems are huge and feel very accurately reproduced. Even the commodities and such is appropriate for the system and planet.
I am having such a great time being immersed in the BSG universe in the starting systems, I can't wait to get on with the story and see what lies beyond the line! This really is one of the best mods I've played, thank you for all you've put in to it!

Thanks gylfie. Yes i agree that docking can be a bit awkward. In the left window i'm always looking for the docking point myslf as a clue where i need to go. If i'd made this mod now, i'd do things slightly differently. there's probably some exe hacks i could do that would improve seeing things a bit sooner, but i don't really have time atm to sort this out. If more of you would like that then i'll look into it

Hello Gibbon, been playing with this Galactica 2.0 for a few days and really having a ball, but, I've now seem to have run into a snag. I'm in Gammoray system and have been round and round all over the map, but just can't find the "exit" out to another system other than the one I came in at. If I may ask, could you tell me what Grid-square that I can find it. Trust that I've done a very good search, but just can't find it. I thought it may good idea to go into the Armistice station - but no luck for getting any info there. Other than this, I'm finding this an interesting mod, nice job digging this up and making it an OSP...gunso

Hi george. Only way in or out is through the Ragnar jumphole. If memory serves, there are some nice wrecks in that system

Thanks for the feed-back, now for another silly question if I may. I've looked but could only find that there are only 7 map/systems that I was able to locate and no other jumpgates to any other places. Now, I did discover that there is a 'unknown jumpgate' behind planet Caprica, but it give me the 'Access is not allowed'. Is there anyone to bribe or a mission to take or do I just drop to my knees and pray for the magical code to get access. I'm about to go out of my mind to figure this out. Gibbon, do you have an over-all map to show what all of the systems that are avaliabile like what the Discovery team has, wishful thinking for me...gunso

I've come home from work hoping for a glass of Ambosia and here you are giving me homework. You are of course quite right, there should be a map, and i have made one for you and everyone else. (It's in the Galactica 2.0 section under 'MAP) Thing to remember with this mod is the first 7 systems you can come and go, after that, not so easy. Make sure you have a good ship, go to Ragnar, somewhere near the top of the map are three Basestars guarding a jumphole to the Promar system. Make sure you are quick and you should get through. Once you've jumped there's no way back until you finish the mod. Hoping that you've seen the show, the mod follows the story quite closely, as an example, a couple of systems in you can make a lot of money mining water due to the water shortage in the fleet. In another system, you'll have to find Starbuck and so on. Hope that helps
