Level 38 is the highest you can go in singleplayer. It's all based on how much money you have, and the original code seemed to max you out at 38. How much money do you have Hal? There is a fix i'll introduce in the next version that hopefully will cure this

how much money, tough question as I started to play another mod, as I couldn't progress past 23, but it was like many millions, as I was doing a short run of banana beer, from the bar and grill to los angeles. Also noticed this thread moved forward another page and I didn't pick up on that until now... doh
I doubt it is a money issue as until 23 I was making steady progress and all seemed normal, you know a couple of 100k would bring you to another level or a couple of missions etc, but flew another 35+ missions at least after level 23 with millions in the bank etc, so maybe it's just a bug specific to my (old xp) setup. I can code so I do understand, what's involved in trying to get to the root (pun intended), of some bugs like this. If there is a fix then I will get back on this great horse again, once again thank you for your time. Please don't go out of your way, I have tried other mods, so maybe something from another mod has written something somewhere!

ptough.ini in the Missions folder governs when you change rank and how much you need to move forward. Now i didn't include that file in the OSP version, so it should read the standard version of that file from your Freelancer install. I've done a new version of the file for the next version which takes you all the way up to level 99.

COOL - if I get time I may delve further into this issue and report back my findings. What's a game - without players and testers

Hello there, I need your help. I’ve tried to re-install FreeLancer to play with your beautiful mod again but the game doesn’t start. I get an error message instead, saying that my graphics card isn’t accepted. I’ve tried to follow the procedure explained on this link : shadowoffear.net/portal/?p=394 but I still get the error message when I want to start the game. It doesn’t work. I can’t play anymore. I’m using Windows 7 Pro SP 1 and my graphics card are a Gygabyte Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 and a Intel HD Graphics 4600. This a screencap of my result with the tool :

Does a little grey box pop up when you start FL saying it doesn't recognise the video card?

Hello Gibbon, First, this grey box appears at the top left of the screen : If I click on Yes : this screen pops up and I can't do anything except re-installing the software again and again (sorry it's in French) :

My system utilises a GTX 1070 card and I know Freelancer isn't geared up for that. The first window you always get, I unclick the checkbox in the bottom and I never bother with it again. Clearly you are getting a second error message which I'm not. I'm guessing here as I've never had to add a new graphics card to the list in Freelancer. Could this be a driver issue? Are you running an up to date driver?
I have three systems, the server which runs Windows 7 with a GTX 750 ti card, and two games pc's, one with Windows 7 and another GTX 750 ti card, and a Windows 10 machine with the GTX 1070 card. All run Freelancer just fine after the initial graphics card error message which I unclick in the bottom, and never worry about it again.
Do you have a motherboard mounted graphics chip as well? If so, try disabling that in BIOS and only have the 980 running. You don't need two graphics chips running, as they can conflict

Hello Gibbon,
I followed your advice and I disabled my Intel HD Graphics 4600 in BIOS. Drivers of the 980 is up to date too.... But I have the same two error messages. The second message is : "Freelancer Critical Error. Freelancer did not detect a 3D capable video card in your System. If you have a 3D capable video card installed please try rebooting. You may need to reinstall the game." (Well, I guess it does in english).

Are you running everything as administrator?

I'm not sure for the installation because I used the old cd-rom but when I'm trying to launch the game in my computer, "run as administrator" and "compatibility windows xp sp1" are on.

I run mine in XP compatibility mode sp3, but i doubt that makes a difference. Did you install the game into the default folder? I install FL onto another partitioned disk drive, my D drive, and it all works fine from there. Can't think what else it could be to be honest

Fresh install onto another partition disk with xp compatibility sp3... sadly, it's still not working. This means that I can't play to freelancer anymore and it saddens me.

Saddens me as well as it makes no sense. Is it an original FL disk you are using? Have you applied the no cd exe to the original install? I know i include it with the mod but if you're not playing Genesis, you will need it to run normal FL. Other option is try using Genesis and see if it fires up using mod manager
