I meant the link wasnt broken to the site. I meant that not all of the download links work. Also it say's about Asylum51 mod, about being able to download it. Although it has been shut down for several years now. (I used to play there)

No trick Gibbon, it's just a case of using the right plugins and staying away from Vista (or 7). The MAT exporter (either version) , CMP exporter v0.3, SUR Exporter v1.1 and SUR Importer all work with the newer versions of milkshape. Unfortunately Neither Kurt's nor Colin's versions of the CMP Importer work, but there is one by P1p3r in the downloads over at the Starport that not only works in all versions of milkshape, but actually imports most of the CMP & 3DB files in FL properly (it reads the offsets etc).
The Serious Zone has been moved to a new host, but they had problems with the move, this means that's the EOA (who were sub hosted on the site) have no forums or downloads ATM, the EOA's front page is an old one from 2005 so chances are that the DL links wont work.
@ ghost, check your scale when you export from milkshape, the exporter has a habit of setting the scale to 92.000000 unless you lock it by saving the settings (2 buttons on the right of the UI), if it is exporting it at 92.000000 then the model in the CMP will be tiny, and as such you probably can't see it in hardcmp's viewport.

I managed to hunt around on various searches and found all the plug-ins I need. A few hick-ups becase some of them were incompatible. But thats bound to happen. Ooooh, I saw in the tutorial about changing the scale when exporting and I thought "I must remember to do that" Thats why I had to zoom in loads on HardCMP What do you recommend the scale should be for a heavy fighter? Thanks for pointing that out by the way

As Bejay suggested, put it to 100%. Now you need FLModel Tool to resize it to the correct size. If you check a standard fighter like an eagle, you will see its size shown. Then resize your model to something similar

The thing about Milkshape/HardCmp/Freelancer is that if you work at a 1 to 1 scale the size and coordinates are identicle across all 3 apps. Because of this I always scale everything in Milkshape to get it to the size I want it to appear in Freelancer, that way I can export things at 1.000000, this saves me from having to use FlModelTool as I've had problems with some resized CMPs done with it. To help me scale things I "merge" an .ms3d version I made of the pilot 3DB, and scale Fighters/Freighters up/down until I'm happy with how it looks next to the pilot. For larger ships/stations etc. I use several different methods. I've worked out that a "unit" in Milkshape for FL is roughly 2.75 feet, so that with a StartTrek/StarWars/BSG etc model I can calculate the scale from the dimensions the Studios give out in their "lore".

Ahh, before I go back to milkshape to re-scale the model there along with re-exporting that and the materials... where would I be able to find the pilot to compare size's? Because I remember seeing it somewhere in one of my downloads and cant remember where. Also I cleared out old download files earlier so it might of got deleted. If that's the case please can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks again for your help guys!

You'll find it in your FL directory "Microsoft Games\Freelancer\DATA\EQUIPMENT\MODELS\PILOT\ship_pilot.3db", just use the CMP Importer to get it into Milkshape. I saved mine as an .ms3d as I've added hardpoints to it to also aid me when I make a cockpit mesh, that way I don't have to keep on importing it out of the .3DB.

You need the CMP Importer, you'll find P1p3r's at this link, it's the fifth item on that page.
