G'day to you all.
I'l cut my hole background story related to freelancer, basicly, I have a fair amoung of time on my hands these days and want to create my own mod from scratch, I done various types of programming when I was at college so hopefully I'l be able to put that into practice here.
I am using Freelancer Explorer to create the basic's and will edit the proper coding at a later date when I have the systems set up...
I have already for my firewalls etc all set up to how you use them because it is used on most servers I play on.
The main problem I am facing is.
My mod not activated, the game loads to the menu screen My mod activated, the game gets past the credits and then cuts to desktop and crash's.
Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
[edit] Just to say, My mod has had all the standard freelancer systems removed. Basicly Just has the systems I have made, and nothing else.

Right, persistance paid off. Found the solution to the problem, new york must remain in the game and can not be deleted or the game will crash, nor can it be re-named. Ok, now for the good stuff

Hate to be a killjoy but neither of those statements are true. In my last mod which was a total conversion mod i didn't have NY in there and my start system was Caprica as it was a BSG themed mod

Aye, as I was told shortly after posting that by a friend of mine on ventrillo. Well it will be interesting to do, as I havent done any modding in the past.

Doing a total conversion as a first project is brave, no question about that. Don't rely too much on FLExplorer. It can royally screw up your mod. I use it to place objects and orient them and that's about all i use it for. I put the IDS numbers in manually, loadouts, ships etc. Get used to which file does what. Do a search for Argh's Toolkit 1.3. Some very clever ideas in there and you can learn a lot

Well I always set my goals high, that way I know what is expected of me. Also having a hell of alot of perfectionism helps a bit. I can sit on hours on end with the same problem stubborn till it has been solved. I've been suggested not to use FLExplorer for the whole creation by a few people, so i'm taking that advice Just a quick question... Where can I find the coding to change the Impluse/Thrust/Cruise speeds?

Cruise speed is in the DATA\constants.ini. Goto the [EngineEquipConsts] section and add this line if it's not already there
CRUISING_SPEED = 400 <---- or whatever you want to set it to

Right, done that thanks Next thing I have, the first couple of times I hosted on FL Server via mod manager the server showed up on global and I was able to fly about and test. Since then I have installed AVG Free, now it keeps saying Starting logic thread... Server running, ready for log in. Connecting to list server... Failed to make connection to list server...
in the consol... Any suggestions? [EDIT] Fixed it Righto, next question... How do you edit infocards?

I use a utility called FLEd-ids where you can edit any infocard in game. I believe there are others but this one is the favourite with us "older" modders

Ahhh, cool I'l download that too and give it a go Got a few more questions. 1: Is it possible to have a rotating space station e.g. space_arch_asteroid 2: I've tried implamenting Psionic01 from the package, and have tried all sorts, personal ideas and that of tutorials yet still crash's when I click "select ship" in the sales. 3: Is there a way to register milkshape3d as I have some models I made in gmax I want to finish off

1. Yes it is, is the short answer. Remember the station uses all three axis, X, Y, Z. Think back to your geometry lessons and you will remember that the Y axis is the one you need to mess with.
Add this line to make a station spin on its main central axis
spin = 0, 0.030000, 0
It's the same code i use to make planets spin
2. Trust me when i say i know the Psionic ship pack works lol. You've messed something up. I'm assuming the Psionic 01 script is sitting in your main mod folder. You need to have the other folders included in exactly the same places as they are already nested correctly for it to work. One file that might be causing you problems is the market_ships.ini. If you're using a custom one i suggest you add this line in seperately to the planet of your choice

3. You can register Milkshape, i forget how to now as i've had my copy for years

1: Ah, Righto, I was using the Y axis value manhatten was using, I'l try your value and see if it will work.
2: Probably becase I didnt put the script file in my mod *cough* now I feel slightly stupid -.- lol and the code I have for it to be sold is

3: Hmm, was using a naughtly little crack and I cant use plug ins because it didnt register, and cant uninstall/reinstall to get it to work because on re-installation it doesnt come up with the registration code bit.
also the dreaded
4: Do you know of any free ids_name ids_info ids_info1 ids_info2 ids_info3 which are not currently being used? because I think one of the promlems causing the crash is the no info card?

Ok, never mind that. Sorted out the info card problem Next on the agenda You know on some servers admins have certain powers like move a character, edit characters money, etc... What program do we use? is it fl hook?

Easiest one to get you started is Ioncross. An illeterate monkey could use that without issues, best to try version 5.1 www.ioncross.com/software/FLHook is for more advanced users, not sure what the current version is of that

Funny you say illeterate monkey... made a faction last night, didnt take as long as everyone said it would, and not that hard either... might mess up when I implament custom ships tho. And yea, I know of the typo on the info card 8) Righto, I'l give them a try later on today. Thanks for all your help so far
